How to upgrade to Dogecoin Core 1.14.7

The latest update of Dogecoin Core 1.14.7 is now available.

To upgrade, first, make a Backup of your wallet.dat file located on:

Windows Folder:
C:\Users\[YOUR USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\Dogecoin or ( %APPDATA%\Dogecoin )

MAC Folder:
$HOME/Library/Application Support/Dogecoin

Linux Folder:
$HOME/.dogecoin

Download the latest version and install it:
dogecoin/dogecoinreleases/tag/v1.14.7

if everything goes well, you will not need to do anything 🙂

After upgrading, my wallet now shows 0 balance. How do I point the new exe to my existing account and wallet?

Did you backup the wallet.dat file before the upgrade?

Did you deleted or uninstalled your CORE wallet before upgrading?

After you installed or upgraded, did it show on the bottom left of you CORE that is syncing? did it already ended the Sync?

Inevitable360 Yes I did back up the wallet.dat file. Do I need to restore it now? How do I do that?

I had no CORE wallet previously, I was using QT 1.5.0.

Exit Dogecoin Core Wallet, go to your folder:

Windows Folder:
C:\Users\[YOUR USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\Dogecoin or ( %APPDATA%\Dogecoin )

MAC Folder:
$HOME/Library/Application Support/Dogecoin

Linux Folder:
$HOME/.dogecoin

replace the wallet.dat file with your hown backup, then start the Dogecoin Core Wallet and should show correctly after finishing the synchronization 🙂

I installed Dogecoin Wallet to a custom directory (eg. E:\DOGE\dogecoin), usually my wallet.dat stays in the root of the dogecoin wallet data folder. Did you change it where it will try to write a dat file C:\Users[YOUR USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\Dogecoin if it doesn't find it there? Or does it detect it's not an a standard directory and just looks for the wallet in the root?

If the former, how do I or do you plan to add the ability to tell Dogecoin wallet a custom location for the dat file.

I ask because I have a backup software that backs up the directory on a daily basis and would like to keep on files both the program data files and the wallet.dat in one location.
